{"id":67888,"date":"2024-03-25T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-25T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southafricatribune.com\/?guid=136440e532999e652ba058d14a6a9374"},"modified":"2024-03-25T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-03-25T00:00:00","slug":"nandi-ndaitwah-calls-for-revival-of-kalimbeza-rice-project-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatribune.com\/nandi-ndaitwah-calls-for-revival-of-kalimbeza-rice-project-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Nandi-Ndaitwah calls for revival of Kalimbeza rice project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P><br \/>\nKATIMA MULILO: Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called for the revival of the Kalimbeza rice project to enhance food security in Namibia.<br \/>\n<\/P><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nEnvisaged to be the major rice project in the country, the Kalimbeza rice project situated 56 kilometres from Katima Mulilo has not been operational since 2021, amongst others due to broken machinery and a water pump that needs to be replaced.<br \/>\n<\/P><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nIn an interview with Nampa on the sidelines of her familiarisation visit to the project recently, Nandi-Ndaitwah said it has proven to be effective before and urged the project manager to work with the University of Namibia, which has experience in rice plantations.<br \/>\n<\/P><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\n&#8216;There&#8217;s not much required except replacing some of the broken machines and repairing others.
